Have you found yourself fixed with characters such as Remy the rat, Dory the fish or Buzz Lightyear the space ranger? If you aren't beginning to notice a pattern just yet, let's make one thing clear: you're a Pixar aficionado!

Pixar released its first feature length film in 1995, with the incredibly popular and family friendly Toy Story. However, the company's history began much earlier than this, as they launched all the way back in 1979 in New York.

Since this time, many things have changed for the company. Its reputation for producing digitally animated films grew overnight with the release of a Disney Toy Story, and it has been considered the original and paramount standard for CGI animation.

Since Toy Story's release 15 years ago, Pixar has released successful film after successful film. Three years after Toy Story revealed this stunning new style of animation, A Bug's Life was released in 1998.

Pixar animators and illustrators were kept busy for the second release in the Toy Story saga, which was released in 1999.

Not to keep their feet out of the water for too long, the Pixar team jumped back into the scene with the release of two more family favourite blockbusters with Monsters, Inc and Finding Nemo, which were released in 2001 and 2003 respectively.

Of course, as demand for Pixar films grew, so did their productivity. Cars (2006), Ratatouille (2007), WALL-E (2008) and Up (2009) were all box office smashes received with critical acclaim.

These groundbreaking movies have also gathered many nominations and awards over the years, with a whopping total of 22 Academy Awards, four Golden Globes and even impressed the music community by winning three Grammys.

The Pixar team's latest release comes in the form of the highly anticipated Toy Story 3. This film revisits the original Toy Story and its characters that first put Pixar on the Map back in the mid-90s.

Aside from offering a great cinematic experience that can be enjoyed by audiences of all ages, it is very interesting to watch Toy Story 3 and see just how far computer animation in films has come since the first film's release.Â
