New mystery series to be broadcast on Community Radio

An absolutely unique thrill is in store for audiences in Athlone, the Midlands and beyond later this week as a new project premieres on Athlone Community Radio. 'The Killing of Sheila Price,' an eight part murder mystery series penned by local writer Jason Gill will air on Athlone Community Radio 88.4FM from this Thursday, February 21. While it makes use of tried and trusted ingredients to present audiences with a genuinely gripping and puzzling thriller, 'The Killing of Sheila Price' is a gritty drama set very much in the Ireland of now, warts and all. A local businesswoman is found brutally murdered in her home in a small Irish midland town. The local police are shocked by the special savagery of the crime. Their suspicions initially fall on the dead woman's estranged husband, Harry Price, but as more and more revelations about the dead woman's tragic life are uncovered, it becomes clear that is a case unlike any seen in Ireland before. Alfred Hitchcock's 'Rebecca' meets 'Silence of the Lambs' in a story that is by turns shocking and thrilling and which will leave you scratching your heads for weeks as to the identity of the true killer. Athlone Community Radio are hugely fortunate to have been able to draw on a cast of talented local actors to give life and voice to a thriller that is the equal of anything being seen or heard around the world at the moment. Clive Darling plays Detective Inspector Dan Hogan, the troubled yet gifted cop who is set the impossible task of unravelling the strands of the dead woman's life in the hope of catching a killer. John McGlynn plays his boss, Superintendent Kevin Hayes, mortified that his division has become the focus of international attention. Ronan Flynn gives a masterful performance as Harry Price, the dead woman's estranged and embittered husband, who engages in a chilling game of cat and mouse with Hogan. Is Harry Price the killer? If he's not, then what else is he hiding? A stellar cast, playing everything from lawyers to psychics to cult leaders to the dead woman herself, includes Martin Kelleher, Anne Hoey, James Paradise, Mary Johnston, Brian Toolan, Harry Smith, Joan Costello and many more. The Killing of Sheila Price will be broadcast in eight episodes beginning at 9pm this Thursday, February 21 on Athlone Community Radio 88.4fm, and continuing over the eight Thursdays after that.
