Radio Rivals Quiz
Athlone Community Radio, in conjunction with South Westmeath Hospice, will host Radio Rivals, a table quiz with a difference, in Athlone on November 14 next.
For the first time ever questions will be broadcast live on air on 88.4fm. The six venues playing host to the innovative event are the Athlone Springs Hotel, Shine’s Bar, The Sheraton Hotel, Athlone Institute of Technology, The Dog & Duck, Ballykeeran and The Shamrock Lodge Hotel. Table Quiz
Cornamaddy Parents Association are holding a table quiz in the Bounty on Thursday, November 14, at 8.30pm. €30 per table. Your support would be much appreciated.

Knitting/Nattering/Crochet

Monksland Active Age
Enjoy a morning of relaxation in Monksland Community Centre every Thursday morning at 10.30am. Meet friends, have a chat, craic, dancing, music and storytelling. Organised day trips during the year. The group would love new members and new ideas. Morning ends at approximately 12.30 with tea and homemade scones. See you there!

Moate Knit & Natter Group
Meets every Thursday morning between 11am and 1pm at Tuar Ard restaurant. All levels of knitting and crochet catered for. Beginners very welcome.

Social Dancing Classes
Every Thursday night at Hayden’s Hotel, Ballinasloe. Sets of country and Irish music at all classes. Classes start at 8pm and new dancers are always welcome.

Fashion Show
Athlone Musical Society’s annual Fashion Show takes place on Friday, November 15 in the Shamrock Lodge Hotel. Doors open at 7:30pm. Wine reception on arrival and prizes for the Best Dressed Lady and Man. Tickets priced at only €10 and are available on the door or from society members.

Maths Busking
An Evening of Drug Development and Maths Busking takes place on Friday, November 15th in Athlone Little Theatre as part of the Midlands Science Festival.
The Maths Buskers will perform a short show and will be followed by a fascinating talk on the role that accidental discoveries play in drug development by Luke O’Neill of TCD.

Christmas Cooking Demo
Dietician Sarah Browne will host a demonstration on cutting the calories while improving on taste for Christmas. This will take place in Gleeson’s Townhouse, Roscommon, on Friday, November 15, at 8pm. Tickets are €5 on the night, all proceeds will go to the Croi charity.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 16

Wrestling Superstars
The Dean Crowe Theatre will be rocked to the core as never seen before on Saturday night November 16th at 8pm, when the Wrestling Superstars invade Athlone.
Coming from successful tours in France, Spain, Japan, Germany, the United States, Mexico and beyond, this night promises to leave your hair standing, heart pumping and your blood boiling! DECADE exhibition
The DECADE exhibition by famed Irish portrait painter James Hanley runs in Athlone’s Luan Gallery until December 15 next. Admission to the gallery is free and its opening hours are Tuesday to Saturday 11 to 5pm, and Sunday from 12 noon to 5pm.

Cycle for Fun
A new Cycle for Fun group has begun in association with Roscommon Sports Partnership. Training every Sunday morning at 10am sharp from Clann na nGael club house, Johnstown. All ages and levels catered for.

Dancing for Pleasure
Takes place at Athlone GAA Centre every Sunday night from 9.30pm to 12am. All welcome.

Rosary in Coosan
The Legion of Mary invites you to join with them in praying the Rosary in Coosan cemetery on Sunday at 3.15pm.

Card Game
Card game every Monday night at 9pm in Clann na nGael Clubhouse, Johnstown.

Walk Athlone
Westmeath Sports Partnership is running a series of recreational walks in November. The next event is set for Glasson Bog on Monday, November 18 at 11am. Lasting one hour, the walks are social/recreational and are suitable for all abilities and fitness levels. Sports Quiz
St Brigid’s GAA Club will host an international sports quiz, in association with Mayo Roscommon Hospice and Pieta House in The Hodson Bay Hotel on Friday, November 29 next. The quiz itself will be hosted by RTE and Irish Times Sports journalists, Ken Earley and Ciaran Murphy.
