THURSDAY, JANUARY 23

TABLE QUIZ
The Athlone Film Club is holding a table quiz in the Dean Crowe Theatre at 8pm.

Knit and Natter
Moate Knit & Natter meets every Thursday from 11.00am to 1.00pm in Tuar Ard Restaurant & Coffee Shop.
The group is very informal and suits all abilities incl. total beginners, both knitting and crochet is catered for  and best of all it is free.

FRIDAY, JANUARY 24

Trad on the ProM
Ireland’s number one music, song and dance experience comes to the Hodson Bay Hotel later this month.

SATURDAY, JANUARY 25

Couch to 10K cycle
Lecarrow Lazers Cycling Club is running a couch to 10km cycle for anyone interested in taking up cycling from 14 years of age upwards. Meet in canal car park Lecarrow at 10.30am every Saturday morning. Training will be given by Cycling Ireland coaches and members from the club. Participants must have a road worthy bike and wear a helmet at all times and bring a drink. Contact Dermot at 086 3552969 for more information.

ORDER OF MALTA

SUNDAY, JANUARY 26

Rosemount GAA Social Initiative
In partnership with Athlone Community Gardai, the social initiative is holding its annual social on Sunday, January 26 from 4pm to 8pm. This year the social will take place in the Radisson Hotel, Athlone. Admission by ticket only: €5.

Rethinking Dyslexia Screening
The Big Picture - Rethinking Dyslexia, an uplifting documentary/movie for both children and adults will be screened at the Dean Crowe Theatre on Sunday, January 26, at 3pm. Made by HBO and directed by James Redford (son of Robert Redford), this film is an inspiration for all who struggle with dyslexia. Admission is €9 for adults or €7 concession. COMMUNITY GARDAI SOCIAL
Athlone Community Gardaí are holding their annual Elder Persons Event in the Radisson Hotel, Athlone on Sunday, January 26, from 4pm to 8pm.  This event is open to all members of the Elder Community in Athlone and the surrounding area.  There are a number of well known acts performing on the day including TR Dallas, Pascal Brennan and Andrew Kenny who is currently competing on TG4’s Glór Tíre.  Light refreshments will also provided on the day.   Tickets are €5 and are available in Athlone Garda Station from the Community Gardaí.

Set Dancing
Set dancing classes resume in Dun na Si, Moate, on Monday, January 13 at 8.30pm. All welcome.

TUESDAY, JANUARY 28

Art Classes
Adult art classes on Tuesdays from 10.30am to 12.30pm in the Dean Egan Bridgeways Resource Centre, Ballymahon. Improvers meet on Wednesday, January 15 from 7pm to 9pm at Sister of Mercy House, beside the Country Shop, Ballymahon.

Toastmasters Open Night
An Open Night of the well-known public speaking club of Athlone takes place on Tuesday, January 28 at 8pm, in The Prince of Wales, Athlone. The Open Night will host a speech from Westmeath’s Gerry Duffy on his extraordinary achievements as an athlete and motivator and how he overcame his fear of public-speaking and other short speeches from club Members. This meeting is open to the public who would like to experience what a Toastmasters meeting is like.
