Tubberclair/glasson Active Retirement

PLAY CHESS
To celebrate the beautiful summer weather Athlone Castle has a giant chess set outside in the courtyard where ticket - holders can interact with this new part of the visitor experience. The castle is open Monday to Saturday 10am - 6pm, Sunday 12pm – 6pm (last admission at 5pm).

DUN NA SÍ
Wednesdays are a busy night at Dun na Sí Heritage Centre in Moate. Karate classes at 5.30pm. Contact Alan on 087 9012447 or Thomas on 086 8948562. YOGA

THURSDAY, JUNE 26
COMPOSTING WORKSHOP
A composting workshop for homes and the local community will be held on Thursday, June 26, at the handball complex, Curraghboy, at 7.30pm. It is supported by Stop Food Waste, the EPA, Roscommon County Council and Curraghboy Tidy Towns.

GROVELANDS OPEN EVENING

SAILING COURSE

BBQ

Castledaly Fit Club continues to meet up on Tuesdays and Fridays at 6.45pm at the walking track. New members always welcome.

SATURDAY, JUNE 28
FUN RUN
The Drum 6K Fun Run in conjunction with Ardkeenan NS and South Westmeath Hospice takes place. Registration is from 1pm and the race is due to start at 3pm. Prizes on offer. Entry costs €10 for adults (15 years and over) and €5 for children. Contact drum6krun@gmail.com or 086 8771764.

SUNDAY, JUNE 29
ATHLONE AGRI SHOW
Athlone Agri Show takes place at the Showgrounds, Gaffey’s Farm, Moydrum, on Sunday, June 29. Admission is €10 for adults and free for children.

CASTLEDALY RUN
Castledaly GAA hold a fundraising 10km run and 5km fun run/walk on Sunday, June 29 next at 12 noon.   
Registration will take place on the morning of the race from 10.30am onwards. The club has decided this year to support The Friend’s of St. Luke’s Hospital as one of the members of our U10 Panel is receiving treatment in St Luke’s at the moment and is doing very well.

GOLDEN JUBILEE
There will be a special Mass in Clonown on Sunday, June 29 at 11am to celebrate Fr Larney Shine’s Golden Jubilee, followed by a presentation and refreshments in the community centre. All are welcome.

ROSEMOUNT SPORTS
Rosemount Sports will be held on Sunday, June 29, in the GAA Centre at 2pm, a date for your diary.

IRISH DANCING AND MUSIC
A night of Irish dancing and traditional Irish music including flute, accordion, guitar and violin players at The Prince Bar & Kitchen every Sunday from 9.30pm throughout the summer.

ART EXHIBITION
The Luan Gallery Summer 2014 Exhibition runs until Sunday, June 29, presenting works by Catherina Hearne, Naomi Vona and Sean Guinan. Phone 090 64 42154.

CRUACHAIN SAGAIRT (TUBBERCLAIR)
The Parish Pastoral Council are planning to have the outdoor mass at the Mass Rock known as Cruachain Sagairt on Sunday, July 6 at 12pm instead of the usual 11am mass. We will need the support of the people to organise for this blessing for our parish. We hope that there will be representatives from organisations and areas of our parish in the preparation and the celebration on the day.

MONDAY, JUNE 30
SUMMER CAMP
A children’s summer sports camp will be held from June 30 to July 4 in Monksland Football Pitches from 10am to 1pm. The camp will include a wide variety of fun games, races, sports and activities for all children to enjoy.
Prices begin at €15 for one child to €25 for two and €35 for three children. Registration night will be held on Wednesday, June 11, from 7pm to 8.30pm in the Monksland Community Centre. For more information or booking contact Sarah on 090 6630853.

LOUGH REE YACHT CLUB
Lough Ree Yacht Club are holding a junior sailing summer camp in Ballyglass, Coosan, Athlone, one two and three week summer camps for children aged between 7 and 18. Application forms on www.lryc.ie

WALKING CLUB
Walking club meets every Monday and Wednesday evening at 8pm at Ballymahon Library to do the canal walk. Everyone welcome.

ART CLASSES
Rosemarie Langtry, resident artist at The Art and Heritage Artist Studios provides adult art classes on Mondays from 10.30am to 12.30pm and children’s art and craft classes from 4pm to 5.30pm on Mondays.

TUESDAY, JULY 1
ZUMBA
Zumba fitness classes are underway on Tuesday mornings at 10am in Tubberclair Hall. Get in shape the FUN way! Zumba is a Latin inspired dance fitness class so it is a workout while partying! The 2014 Triathlone is set for Saturday, July 5 next. The route has changed with a new swim, bike, run and finish area.

ATHLETICS IRELAND FOREST FEAST SUMMER CAMPS
To be held in Athlone Institute of Technology on Monday, July 7 to Friday, July 11 and Monday, July 14 to Friday, July 18. Camps are open to children aged 6 and over, and are priced at €50 for one week with a €10 discount for a second child.
