Athlone's Marist College has qualified for the final of the 'AIB Build A Bank Challenge' which takes place at Croke Park on Thursday, April 29.

Marist won the prize for 'Best Teamwork Category' in the regional competition of the 'AIB Build A Bank Challenge' which took place at the Kilashee House Hotel, Naas, recently and thus qualified for the national deciders at the legendary GAA venue.

The 'AIB Build A Bank Challenge' encourages fourth and fifth year students to set up and run a bank branch within their school. It is designed to encourage and promote financial literacy within the classroom as well as developing and maintaining a business. Fifteen schools qualified for the regional competition with the Marist College students taking the honours in the aforementioned category. The Marist College School Bank team was headed by manager Eric McGann, assistant manager Ben Carty, auditor Adam Herrmann, sales and marketing executive Eddie Farrell, and tellers Eoin Kelly and Kevin Cooper. Teachers Ms Orla McGrath and Mr Michael Loftus are extremely proud of the boys' endeavours and are delighted they won this prize, which was well deserved through their hard work, dedication and enthusiasm. They are now all busy preparing for their All-Ireland Final.

All in all the students found it stimulating, beneficial and indeed good fun as did their mentor, Ms. Kim Darby, AIB Golden Island Banking Shop, Athlone.
