Richard Ross, Martin Kennedy, Graham Ross and Marcus Boland (Athlone) will be stopping off in the Auld Shebeen on Saturday night next and would welcome your support as they cycle from Mizen to Malin Head over the weekend. The cycle is in aid of the Irish Wheelchair Association and the money raised will used to buy equipment for the recently opened resource centre in Clonbrusk, Athlone.
They are stopping off in Moate on Saturday and are having a fundraising evening in the Auld Shebeen at around 9pm. There are sponsorship cards in some of the shops around town if anyone is interested in donating to this local cause.
Some interesting facts about the cycle.... they have to cycle about 100 miles everyday for the four days, day one takes them from Mizen Head to Charleville, day two Charleville to Moate, day three Moate to Omagh, day four Omagh to Malin Head.
In preparation for this huge undertaking, the lads have been training hard and participated in the An Post Series Ox Mountain Challenge, which was 100 miles around Co. Sligo. They are also spending a lot of time climbing 'The Cut' and 'The Wolftrap' in the Slieve Bloom.
