Major auto jumble and vintage show this weekend

Plans have been finalised for the eagerly anticipated 2012 annual South Roscommon Vintage Club Auto Jumble and Show this Sunday, January 29 commencing at 11am in Taughmaconnell Community Centre. Leading dealers from all over Ireland will be in attendance in Taughmaconnell on the day offering for sale rare tractor and car vintage spare parts. Other goods on display will include vintage models, videos, books and a fine selection of memorabilia of times past. Personnel from the Irish Vintage Engine and Tractor Assocation (IVETA) insurance brokerage will be on-site on the day. The original suggestion of holding a South Roscommon Vintage Club Auto Jumble first came from founder of the club, the late Michael Lyons RIP, who passed away last November. He will be greatly missed at this year's event in his native parish of Taughmaconnell. An extensive outdoor show of period agricultural machinery and classic motor cars will also be exhibited. Many of the vintage tractors on display were purchased in former times from well known dealers like Mannions of Kiltoom, Connollys of Aughrim, Ruane's of Athenry and McGee's of Ardee. At present, South Roscommon Vintage Club has over 90 members. The club's first annual Christmas dinner took place in the Moycarn Lodge, Creagh, Ballinasloe and turned out to a huge social success. At the function the club Chairman Dermot Coyle presented large plaques to the four members of the talented tractor build team including Stephen Kenny, Joe Rock, Edward Kenny and Paddy Clancy.
