"Songs of the Legends" to sing for baby Caoimhe
The very successful group "Songs of the Legends" is performing a concert in Moate Community Centre on Monday, February 16, with proceeds going to the Baby Caoimhe Journey of Hope Fund.
The two and a half hour popular concert will see performances by Ireland"s leading entertainers as you"ve never seen them before. You are guaranteed to be dancing on your feet to popular songs from Joe Dolan, The Beatles, Roy Orbison, Johnny Cash, Elvis and many other legends in the music world. Not only will you get to sing along to your favourite songs, but the performers will be dressed like the artists too.
This group has played to full houses wherever it has performed over the last number of months and the feedback is excellent. It is a spectacular night"s entertainment.
Chairman of the Baby Caoimhe Journey of Hope Fund Cllr Frankie Keena said the committee was delighted to have secured the "Songs of the Legends" to play on the night.
'They are a very sought after showband and we are very grateful to them for singing for baby Caoimhe,' he said. 'We are also very grateful to the management of Moate Community Centre for making their fantastic facility available to us for the concert.'
Two year old baby Caoimhe from Drumraney, daughter of Fiona and Matt McCormack, went to Chicago last March for treatment for infantile epilepsy. Her development is significantly hampered by these infantile spasms and if the seizures are not stopped fully her longterm prognosis will result in mental and physical handicap.
'Nine months later Caoimhe is back in Ireland with some success as her daily seizures have reduced by 80%. There is an urgent need to stop the seizures completely so that a detailed meg scan can be carried out to locate the root cause of her seizures. It is only then that a decision will be made as to whether or not to operate,' said Cllr Keena.
One of the main reasons for bringing her home is that Caoimhe"s immune system is very low and the winter climatic conditions in Chicago would not help her. Caoimhe"s parents are continuing her medication here and are in constant contact with the US hospital with plans to bring her back to Chicago in March.
'The response from the public to the Baby Caoimhe Journey of Hope Fund has been excellent over the last nine months. It is hard to find enough words to express our appreciation and thanks,' said Cllr Keena. Anyone lucky enough to get their hands on tickets for the concert is guaranteed to experience a night they will always remember. Tickets for the event are available in Musicworld, Golden Island Shopping Centre, and also in outlets in Moate, costing €20. Tickets are also available from committee members Frankie Keena (085 7474074) and Michael Downes (087 2457445).
Early booking is advised.
