A number of Athlone volunteers were on hand last week to help the Irish Cancer Society launch its biggest annual fundraiser, Daffodil Day, which will be held on Friday, March 20.

The launch was held in the Burlington Hotel in Dublin last week and Athlone volunteers Margaret Mullingan, Mary Fagg and Marie Dolan helped the Society launch the annual event with the help of RTÉ"s Colm Murray.

The Irish Cancer Society hopes to raise €4.25m this year to fund its free specialist nursing services for people with cancer across the country.

Every daffodil sold will help us make the cancer journey a more comfortable one for all patients by providing a range of free patient care services in every county across the country. To volunteer for Daffodil Day CallSave 1850 60 60 60 or visit www.cancer.ie
