Showtime fast approaching in Moate

The Moate Show is fast approaching.

This year's show takes place on Saturday, August 28 in Anthony Browne's field beside the Texaco filling station on the old Dublin Road, the committee would like to thank Anthony for the use of his land.

Work has started on the showground's as the committee prepare for this year's show. There is a high level of interest in many of the categories this year with the hunt chase and the new pony grand prix attracting special interest as well as the horse showing classes, this appears to be in line with many other shows throughout the country. Entries are coming in quick and fast for all categories. Some of this interest is coming from great distances; this may be as a result of the new motorway network that goes through Moate on the M6 and makes Moate very accessible from many parts of the country. All entries can be sent to Angela Jordan, Windmill Road, Moate, Co Westmeath. For anyone who has not received an entry form they can be obtained by Email to joseph1@esatclear.ie or by phone 090 64 81318.

Due to the extra entries in many classes the committee have increased the size of the showground to ensure there is enough of room for both competitors and spectators. This year for the second time Midlands Radio 3 will broadcast live from the show. The committee will also provide the free shuttle bus, running from Moate town to the show, this will be stopping at the Gap House, the Grand Hotel and Bart O'Connor's and will be running every half hour.

Anyone wishing to help on the day of the show would be very welcome and much appreciated, volunteers can contact Angela Jordan on 090 64 81318 for further details.
