Willow Park team wins youth cook off

A team of two from Willow Park won the Athlone Youth and Community Project (AYCP) cook off final held in Woodlands Grove Youth Club on Monday evening. The team of Sarah Gaffey and Danny Duarte beat off stiff competition from the Sarsfield Square team of Nicole Earley and Saoirse Warby to become overall winners of the competition. A total of 16 young people, aged between 14 and 18, took part in the competition, which was run in a number of heats, with the final taking place on Monday between two teams of two people. AYCP works with young people in six different areas in Athlone - Sarsfield Square, Brawny, Willow Park, Battery Heights, Blackberry Lane and Ashdale/Woodlands Grove. The final cook-off was judged by chefs Damien Laharte and Pat Nevin and the finalists were judged on preparation, hygiene, team work and taste.
