Get me to the church on time!

It is of course traditional for a bride to be a little late to her wedding, but this Saturday one lucky bride has a great excuse for being those few minutes late as she needs to make a stop off at Athlone Credit Union in a bid to win a car first! Coosan woman Colette McEnroe is one of five lucky finalists who will be hoping to pick up a brand new Opel Corsa in the Credit Union members monthly car draw for June and will make a pit stop at the credit union on the way to the church. Colette will marry Lee Kearney this Saturday at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church Coosan at 1.30pm, with the reception to be held in the Sheraton Hotel afterwards. Colette, who is a maths teacher in Moate Community School, is the daughter of Thomas and Eileen McEnroe. Before that though she will stop off, in her wedding dress, to see if she will be the owner of a brand new car. Either way she will be arriving at the church at least €1,000 richer as each of the runners up will receive a cash prize. The other four finalists are Michael Dunning, Stephen Cloonan, Rosaleen Macken and Michael Harney. CEO of Athlone Credit Union Mick Dillon said it is certainly a first for the credit union draws, which are held on the third Saturday of each month. He said when he first phoned Colette to inform her that she was one of the five finalists she said she couldn't make the draw, which was originally scheduled to take place at 2pm, because she was getting married that day! It was then proposed that they would change the draw to 12 noon to help work around Colette's schedule for her big day before being decided that it would be held at 1pm with Mick promising they would only keep her for 15 minutes to ensure that the bride gets to the church on time!
