Roscommon couple pick up Lotto cheque for €8.75m

A delighted county Roscommon couple has picked up a cheque for €8.75m at the National Lotto offices today.

The couple won the fantastic prize in last Wednesday's Lotto draw.

The lucky winners, who wish to keep the win private, purchased their ticket in First Chapter in the Golden Island Shopping Centre, Athlone, on the day of the draw. The ticket was a €6 mixed play selection. The winning line was a Quick Pick.

"We play regularly and I'd often wait a while before checking the ticket but I was listening to Dave and Oonagh on iRadio and heard there was a winner so we checked the ticket immediately. Needless to say we got the shock of our lives when we realised all six numbers matched. It's still sinking in," said the happy wife.

"We haven't been able to sleep or eat since," added the husband.

The couple currently have no plans for the windfall preferring to take some time out before making any big decisions.

Don't forget, Saturday's Lotto jackpot is a guaranteed €2 million. Play before 7.45pm on Saturday for your chance to win. It could be you!
