Wedding anniversary celebrations in Ss Peter and Paul's

Married couples from across the Diocese of Elphin gathered at Ss Peter and Paul's church to celebrate special jubilees of their nuptials. The Mass, which began at 3pm, was concelebrated by Bishop Christy Jones, Canon Liam Devine, PP, Ss Peter and Paul's, Fr John McManus, SPS, CC, Ss Peter and Paul's, Fr Sean O'Dowd, SPS, CC, Ss. Peter and Paul's, Canon Joe Fitzgerald, PP, Castlerea, Fr John Cullen, PP, Kiltoom, Fr Joe Poole, CSSp, Ballintubber, Fr Tom Beirne, CC, Newbridge, Fr Eamon Kelly, SMA, Athlone, Fr Brian Carroll, Jackson, Missisippi, USA, whose brother Anthony and his wife Ethel were celebrating their golden jubilee, and Fr Martin Kenny, Drogheda, whose brother Peter and his wife Maureen were celebrating their ruby (40th#0 jubilee. The celebration was full of joy and gratitude and of hope as all married couples renewed their marriage vows, received individual blessings from Bishop Jones and were presented with a special jubilee candle and a signed certificate of fidelity. After the ceremony everyone retired to the Shamrock Lodge Hotel for a beautiful sit down meal provided at a very economic cost by the management. The attendance included prominent personalities from the political, sporting and business world and all expressed delight at the celebrations.
