No funding for footpath to Coosan Cemetery

Westmeath County Council has no funds to extend the path to Coosan Cemetery this year, it emerged last week after Cllr Paul Hogan called on the town council to request the county council to extend the path. Cllr Hogan pointed out that the Block Grant hasn't been presented to county councillors yet and asked that greater consideration be given to at least costing the work. He said an elderly couple had approached him on the issue and he hoped a costed plan would be carried out and included in the county manager's report. Cllr Kevin 'Boxer' Moran said the footpath had been started but came to a standstill at Coosan NS, which is awaiting an extension. He said the residents had a plan in place to extend the footpath but were held up until the work at the school was carried out and they were awaiting a response from the Department on this.
