Popular Athlone performer and former Eurovision contestant, Donna McCaul will provide backing vocals for Mullingar singer Zoe Alexis tonight, Friday February 22 as they take to the stage with the Eurosong entry "Fire".
Zoe will also be supported by Nicki Kavanagh, who previously supported Niamh Kavanagh in the Eurovision and Claire O'Loughlin who may be familiar from her appearances as a contestant in The Voice last year.
The song Fire, written by Lauren White and Niall Mooney has already caused much excitement in music circles and received endorsements from many artists including Bressie, Brian Kennedy, Michelle Heaton and One Direction.
Donna explained the song is an upbeat number that "grabs you instantly". It is important the song keeps moving with the times, she said. Songwriter Lauren White, from Walkinstown in Dublin is already off to a great start in 2013 after Lady Antebellum has signed one of her songs, Heartache.
It all boils down to production and performance and of course votes on the night she explained but is confident the song is strong enough to reach the Eurovision final in Sweden later this year.
She famously previously performed in the Eurovision finals with her brother Joe, representing Ireland, in 2005.
Fire will be song three tonight and people are encouraged to support the girls by casting their votes after the performance.
