Athlone FAI Festival of Football information meeting

THE Football Association of Ireland has commenced preparations for their annual Festival of Football and Annual General Meeting which will take place in Westmeath from July 21 to 26.

The Annual General Meeting, which will take place in the Radisson Blu Hotel, Athlone, on Saturday, July 26, will see Athlone man Paddy McCaul complete his four-year term as FAI President.

The Festival of Football is a four day event during which the FAI visit selected clubs around the county as well as holding Football Fun Days in four towns and rolling out a wide range of football programmes in different venues.

A Club Information Meeting will be held in Kilbeggan Parish Centre (opposite the Church) on Thursday, March 20, at 8pm and all clubs based in Co Westmeath as well as all clubs affiliated to the Athlone Schoolboys League are invited to send two representatives.

FAI staff will be on hand to explain how the Festival of Football works and outline how clubs can get involved and the type of events they can stage.

The FAI Festival of Football was introduced in 2007 and has been held in Kerry, Mayo, Monaghan, Wexford, Clare, Donegal and Wicklow.
