Woman dies in Cornafulla accident

A 49-year-old woman has died in a two car accident in Cornafulla this morning.

The collision is understood to have happened at 9am, close to Cornafulla NS, on the old N6 road between a car and a taxi. The male occupant of the taxi has been taken to hospital in Ballinasloe, with what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.

A number of ambulances and units of the local fire brigade attended the scene. The road is closed and a garda investigation is underway.
