South Roscommon candidates set for public debate in Monksland tonight

The Athlone Springs Hotel is the venue for tonight's public forum.

Councillors and council hopefuls in South Roscommon are preparing for a election debate hosted by the Westmeath Independent in Monksland tonight (Tuesday).

Members of the public are welcome to attend this election forum, which is taking place in the Athlone Springs Hotel at 7pm.

The event will provide an opportunity for lively and engaging debate on issues that matter to people in South Roscommon.

All of the candidates for the Athlone Municipal District of Roscommon County Council have been invited to participate.

The format for the evening will allow each candidate to briefly outline their election priorities at the outset.

This will be followed by a question and answer session from the floor.

Questions for the candidates have also been submitted to the Westmeath Independent by individuals and community groups and these will also be put to the candidates.

Voters will go to the polls to elect six 'Athlone Area' councillors to Roscommon County Council on May 23 next.
