A body discovered earlier today has been formally identified as that of Adrian Folan (41) who had been missing from Athlone since Thursday last.

In a statement issued within the last hour, Gardai said the deceased's body had been removed from the scene and is at Limerick Regional Hospital where a post mortem is scheduled for this evening.

An appeal for witnesses who may have seen anything unusual or suspicious in and around the quarry at Kilconnell, Liscannor, Co. Clare since July 3 has been issued by the Gardai.
