QPR announce strong first-team squad for Athlone visit

QPR have confirmed a 20-man squad for their tour of Ireland and visit to Athlone Town.
The squad includes nearly all the most prominent and well-known players with the London-based club, including Rio Ferdinand and Richard Dunne.
Former English internationals Ferdinand, Joey Barton, Bobby Zamora, Rob Green and Shaun Wright-Phillips along with the more-recently capped Steven Caulker are among the star names in the Rs’ line up.
Richard Dunne and goalkeeper Brian Murphy make up the Irish contingent, while the mercurial Adel Taarabt and striker Charlie Austin will also be well known to football fans.

The only notable absentee is Brazilian keeper Julio Cesar.

The full squad is: Rob Green, Brian Murphy, Joe Lumley, Rio Ferdinand, Steven Caulker, Clint Hill, Armand Traore, Ale Faurlin, Danny Simpson, Nedum Onuoha, Richard Dunne, Joey Barton, Yun Suk-Young, Karl Henry, Junior Hoilett, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Matt Phillips, Adel Taarabt, Charlie Austin and Bobby Zamora.

The first team squad headed to Ireland today (Thursday) for a six-day trip.They will be based at Carton House in County Kildare throughout the tour, with fixtures against Shamrock Rovers and Athlone Town on Saturday (August 2nd - 3pm kick-off) and Tuesday (August 5th - 6pm kick-off) respectively.
