Priest appointed to drumraney after death of fr brilley

A clerical appointment has been announced in Drumraney-Tang after the death last month of parish priest Fr Joe Brilley.

The popular 71-year-old passed away in late September, after a short illness.

The Diocese of Meath announced this week that Fr Oliver Devine, who had been parish priest of Ballivor-Kildalkey, has now been appointed to Drumraney-Tang.

Fr Devine, who was ordained in Delvin in 1994, has served in Ratoath, St Mary's in Drogheda, and Mornington prior to his appointment in 2005 as parish priest of Ballivor-Kildalkey.

Several other changes have been announced by the diocese recently.

Newly ordained Fr Ciaran Clarke (32), a native of Dysart, has been appointed as a curate in Dunboyne.

Having attending Mercy Secondary School, Kilbeggan, Fr Clarke completed a Post Leaving Certificate course in Business Studies/Information Technology and pursued further studies for three years in Athlone Institute of Technology.

He was accepted as a student for the Diocese of Meath and entered seminary in August 2007. Over the following years, Fr Clarke was assigned parish placements in Mullingar, Trim and Tullamore. He celebrated his first Mass in St Patrick’s Church, Dysart, on Monday, September 29.
