Applications still being accepted for moate christmas market

Applications are still being accepted for Moate Christmas Market, although the closing date has actually passed.
The deadline for the receipt of applications was Friday, October 17, but Independent councillor Michael O’Brien, who is one of the organisers behind the event, said they have been inundated with applications and with late requests for applications and so will continue to accept them for the next couple of days.
The organisers were meeting last night and will now meet on a weekly basis in the run up the market, which will be held on the town’s Main Street on Sunday, December 14, from 4pm until 8pm.
It is expected there will be about 50 or 60 stalls on the day and up to last week more than 100 people had sought application forms. The market is being organised by Moate Partnership Group and they will announce the successful applicants on November 1.
Cllr O’Brien said they want to have a good spread of stalls, with a variety of products available. It’s planned to have stalls running from Galvin’s Gifts to the Grand Hotel. The stalls will face in towards the shops and there will be a host of local produce available, including artisan foods, crafts and Christmas gifts.
If the market is a success, it’s hoped to hold quarterly or monthly markets in the town.
