Pedestrian knocked down in glasson

A pedestrian has been rushed to hospital this morning with serious head injuries after an accident in Glasson.

The woman, in her 20s, was knocked down in the centre of the village as she was crossing the road around 8am this morning.

Emergency services rushed to the scene of the accident and victim was later brought to the Midland Regional Hospital in Tullamore with serious head injuries. Early reports indicate that the woman is in a critical condition.

Glasson Gardai are appealing for witnesses to the accident to come forward. Anyone with information is asked to call 090 648 5102.

Gardai are advising motorists along the N55 to allow extra time for their journey as delays are being reported in the area and diversions will be in place shortly.
