Cllr Tom Farrell has organised the meeting to discuss tourism in the area.

Tubberclair public meeting on tourism future tonight

A public meeting has been called to examine ways to exploit the tourism potential of Tubberclair and surrounding areas in the future.
Local Fine Gael councillor Tom Farrell has organised the meeting for this evening at 8.30pm in Tubberclair Hall.
Speaking to the Westmeath Independent ahead of the event, the Walderstown resident appealed to everyone to come along and have their say on the future development of the area, stretching from Maghera to Kilkenny West, Muckinagh, Portlick, Glasson and Tubberclair.
“It’s about the whole community coming together to look at ways to develop the natural amenities of the area, be that, Portlick, Goldsmith Country, Sweet Auburn or a say a walkway along the lakeshore,” he pointed out, adding that the council is interested in collaborating with local people on future development projects.
“I’ve been talking to a lot of people and there seems to be an interest in doing something out there... This is the first step and we will take it from there. There are lots of things that could be developed in the years ahead,” concluded Cllr Farrell.
