Two arrested after coosan fillingstation breakin

Two local teenagers have been arrested in connection with a break-in at a Coosan filling station overnight, in which a substantial amount of cigarettes and alcohol were stolen.

The Applegreen outlet in Arcadia Business Park was broken into sometime around 5am, when the front window was smashed and the raider or raiders simply walked into the shop. A substantial amount of cigarettes and alcohol was subsequently taken from the outlet.

Two young males, both in their teens, were arrested in relation to the break-in earlier today. They are currently being questioned in Athlone Garda Station where they can be held for up to twelve hours.

Meanwhile, nobody was injured after a crash on the motorway on Wednesday.

The single-car accident happened in Glen townland along the eastbound lane of the M6, close to Junction 8 Kilmartins around 4.15pm.

The lane was closed for sometime afterwards until the vehicle was cleared from the scene and there were long delays in the area for a time.
