Support daffodil day in westmeath this friday

The Irish Cancer Society is asking Westmeath residents to support this year’s Daffodil Day, on Friday, March 27 (tomorrow).

Daffodil Day, supported by Dell, aims to ensure the continued provision of free services for cancer patients and their families. Most recent figures show that 631 people were diagnosed with cancer in Westmeath in 2012.

Funds raised on Daffodil Day go directly into the society’s work across support, prevention, research and advocacy. Night nursing is one service funded by Daffodil Day. Last year, the society provided 255 nights of care to people in Westmeath.

John McCormack, CEO of the Irish Cancer Society said: “Our thousands of loyal supporters in Westmeath and across the country are ready for Daffodil Day on Friday. This is our biggest fundraising day and with cancer rates increasing every year, we want to ensure that we can continue to meet the demand for our services and cancer research work.”

Anyone wishing to support Daffodil Day can buy a daffodil or other merchandise from a street seller or from http://www.cancer.ie/online-shop. Donations can be made by phone on CallSave 1850 60 60 60, online at http://www.cancer.ie, or by texting Daff to 50300 to donate €4.
