Trio due before court today after ballymahon raid

Three men are expected to appear before a sitting of Sligo District Court this afternoon after a Garda raid in Ballymahon on Monday.

Gardaí arrested the trio as part of what they said was an ongoing investigation targeting criminal activity in Longford.

The arrests were made during an operation involving local uniform and detective Gardaí along with members of the RSU. (Regional Support Unit) on Monday afternoon.

A shot gun and quantity of ammunition was recovered when Gardaí searched a house in the Ballymahon area. A male aged in his early 30s was arrested at the scene.

Cannabis plants with an estimated street value of €30,000 were also seized along with cultivation equipment when Gardaí searched a second house in Ballymahon.

Two males (aged in their late 20s and mid 30s) were arrested at the house.
The trio were later charged in relation to the incident and are expected to come before Sligo District Court sometime today.
