Temperatures on the rise in Westmeath

Glorious sunshine was the order of the day in Athlone today (Wednesday), as temperatures reached a very pleasant 16 degrees celsius.

The 16 degrees reading was recorded at Met Eireann's weather station in Mullingar at 4pm today, and it represented a significant improvement on the warmest temperatures there yesterday (13.4 degrees) and on Monday (12.6 degrees).

However, the forecast indicates that we should make the most of it while we can, as it's set to turn cooler again by the weekend.

Tomorrow (Thursday) is expected to be dry and sunny in most areas with highest temperatures of 12-16 degrees.

Friday could bring some rain 'over southern parts of Munster and Leinster' but will be mainly dry elsewhere.

It will become colder, if mostly dry, this weekend while more showery weather is expected on Monday next, according to Met Eireann.
