Sunday is Wear Orange Day for Join Our Boys

This Sunday (May 1) is 'Wear Orange Day’ - a day designed to raise awareness of the rare terminal condition Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD).

Three young Naughton brothers from Roscommon, who inspired the Join Our Boys fundraising campaign, have DMD. The neuromuscular disease affects 1 in every 3,500 boys, and currently has no cure.

The Athlone Towncentre shopping centre will be among the participants in 'Wear Orange Day’ this weekend, in support of the Join Our Boys Trust.

People are being encouraged to join the centre's team on Sunday 1st of May from 2-4pm. Touched by the journey of the Naughton family, the Towncentre will be hosting a Funky Family Photo Event to raise some much-needed funds for the charity.

Come along on the day and have your photo taken in centre by an Athlone Towncentre photographer. Simply make a small donation to the charity and receive an instant, professional print. There will be a range of novel props to choose from as well as spot prizes on the day also, especially for those wearing orange.

Every cent raised as part of the event goes directly to the Join Our Boys Trust. For further information on the trust and the fight against Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy see www.joinourboys.org
