Appeal to trace missing local woman

Gardai in Athlone have appealed for the public’s help to trace a woman in her 70s who has been missing from her Coosan home since yesterday.

Kathleen Reilly (74) left her home at Coosan Point Road on Thursday (June 16) around 11am to go for a walk with her dog on land at the back of her home. This was a usual part of her daily routine, however, the pet returned later without her.

Her brother, who was last to see her then became concerned and began searching for his sister. The Gardai were subsequently contacted.

Kathleen, who is described as small woman around 5 feet in height is of slim build and was wearing glasses with red/brown frames and grey hair brushed back when last seen by her brother at the family home at Coosan Point Road. She was wearing a black mac coat and long black boots when she left the house.

Gardai are currently searching land close to Kathleen’s home and are being assisted by the Coastguard helicopter.

Anyone who has seen Kathleen in the local area since Thursday or can assist the investigation in any way is urged to call Athlone Garda Station 090 64 98550.
