Garda warning ahead of big Kiltoom match

Gardai have issued a warning to motorists to take extra care along the main N61 Athlone to Roscommon road this evening (Wednesday) as Kiltoom hosts the much-anticipated Electric Ireland Connacht GAA Minor Football semi-final between Galway and Roscommon.

With the game due to start at 7.30pm, extra traffic is expected in the area and motorists are being urged to exercise caution and slow down along the route before and after the game.

Sergeant Adrian Queeney from Roscommon Garda Station warned motorists that there will be absolutely no parking along the main road as there is ample parking beside the Kiltoom pitch.

He appealed to supporters to obey that direction for their own safety and to ensure the safety of other road users.

Close to 1,000 people are expected at the big match at Roscommon’s second pitch according to Gardai.

Leitrim and Mayo contest the other semi-final on the same night with the winners meeting in the Connacht Final.
