Mr Ireland Darren King

Brideswell's Darren in final of Mr World tomorrow

Local man Darren King will take part in the final of Mr World tomorrow (Tuesday) night in Southport, UK.
Twenty-seven year old Darren was crowned Mr Ireland on Saturday, July 2, and has spent the last ten days in the UK taking part in the Mr World competition, where he has been put through his paces.
The Brideswell native is the son of Muriel and Noel King and is a part-time model with Catwalk Modelling Agency.
Brother of Louise, he also works fulltime in Penneys, Golden Island Shopping Centre, and in fact was back in work at 7am on the Monday after being crowned Mr Ireland.
He recently bought a house in Kiltoom with his girlfriend of 12 years Anne Marie and told the Westmeath Independent last week that he was proud to represent his country at Mr World.
Speaking about winning the Mr Ireland title, he said: “I guess the fact that I’m an every day guy stood to me and also I was one of the oldest, so maybe the fact that I brought some maturity to it.”
He said while he has no expectations of winning Mr World, he’d like to put up a fight and like to think he would be in with a good chance.
