Sports clubs encouraged to apply for grants totalling €30 million

LOCAL sports clubs across Westmeath are being encouraged to apply for funding as part of the Government's €30 million grant scheme, the Sports Capital Programme.
The grants cover a number of infrastructural improvements in sports clubs of all sizes and types including natural and artificial sports pitches, tracks and courts, floodlighting, security fencing, dressing rooms, showers and toilets, sports halls and gyms and non-personal equipment such as lawn mowers and defibrillators.

The scheme opened for registrations today (Monday). Local TD Kevin 'Boxer' Moran (Independent Alliance) said that help will be made available to assist applicants to fill in the forms.
He said that the funding will be hugely beneficial to sports clubs and should be sought, through the application process. He advised clubs to get working on their applications as early as possible.
“This is a one off and it may never happen again. I'd encourage all clubs to apply,” he said.
The deadline for registering is Friday, February 10 at 5pm, while the deadline for submitting completed applications is Friday, February 24, 2017.
