VIDEO: Award win for Athlone train station

Athlone is home to the best train station in Leinster, according to Irish Rail.

The transport provider today announced the latest winners of its 'Best Stations' awards for 2017.

Two of the three finalists in Leinster were in Westmeath, with the Mullingar, Athlone and Carlow stations shortlisted for the prize.

This afternoon, the efforts of the staff working at the station in Athlone were recognised when it was announced as the winner in the provincial category.

In announcing the winner, Irish Rail posted the following video with footage of the station:
