Local playground to officially open this weekend

The playground in Monksland

The newly extended and refurbished playground in Monksland will be officially opened by the Cathaoirleach of Roscommon County Council, Orla Layden, this Sunday (July 16).

The Monksland Town Team is inviting people to come along to the opening event, which will take place from 2-5pm and will include music and face painting. People are also being encouraged to bring a picnic blanket as light refreshments will be provided.

The playground is situated on the Old Tuam Road, beside the recycling banks and community centre.

Following the refurbishment, it has been in use for over a month now and is used by many children on a daily basis.
