VIDEO: The magic moment when Jennifer Byrne was named Rose of Tralee!

After two nights in the Dome and appearances on stage by 32 Roses, here is the magical moment when Ballinahown's Jennifer Byrne was crowned as the 2017 Rose of Tralee.

The bubbly 24-year-old's shock and delight was evident as host Dáithí Ó Sé announced her as the winner of the world-famous festival.

When she was interviewed on stage on Monday night, Jennifer said she was 'blown away' by the support she has received since she became Offaly Rose in May.

'My mother is from Offaly and father is from Westmeath so it's been great to represent both,' the young doctor who hails from Clonaderig, just a half a mile inside the Offaly, said proudly on Monday.

Sport is a huge part of the former Our Lady's Bower student's life and she regaled Dáithí with tales of winning an Ireland football title with Westmeath and playing for Garrycastle, as well as representing Ireland at U17 level in soccer where she was part of a team which claimed a silver medal at European Championships level.
