Met Eireann said significant falls of snow are expected on Saturday night and into Sunday morning.
Accumulations of 4 to 8 centimetres could occur quite widely with greater totals possible. Drifting snow locally at times too with brisk winds. Slippery paths and treacherous roads also due to snow accumulation and ice.
An orange warning is the middle of three warning categories used by Met Eireann. It means that it is advising people to be prepared.
