Athlone Town announce three-man management team

Athlone Town have announced a three-man management structure ahead of the 2018 SSE Airtricity League season.

Roddy Collins, who returned as the club's manager last season, has been named General Manager of Athlone Town AFC, while Aaron Callaghan takes up the role of First Team Manager, and Terry Butler becomes First Team Assistant Manager.

Callaghan has plenty of experience in the League of Ireland, having previously managed Athlone Town for a period in 2004. He has also served as manager of Longford Town, Bohemians and UCD as as well as NIFL team Carrick Rangers in 2016-2017.

The club pointed out that Terry Butler "also brings a wealth of experience and previously worked with Aaron at several of his former clubs including Bohemians and Carrick Rangers, and was also involved with UCD."

"The management team will now start the process of putting together a team for the 2018 season and this will also include trial sessions in Athlone for any local players who want play in the SSE Airtricity League," stated the club.

"It is proposed that these trials will take place in early January and as soon as dates are decided we will publish them on Social Media and the Athlone Town AFC website."

"We wish Roddy, Aaron and Terry all the best for the coming season and we are confident that all the players, officials and fans of Athlone Town AFC will give them their full support," concluded the statement.
