Irish Water has announced that water restrictions will be in place for customers in parts of Athlone Town, Garrycastle, Dublin Road, Ardnaglug, Fardrum, Moydrum, Blyry, Killyon Hill, Bonavalley, Annagh, Baylin, Mount Temple and Ories areas from 8pm tonight, Wednesday, until 8am tomorrow, Thursday, to allow water levels in the Armagh reservoir to continue to refill.

A water supply will be maintained to Athlone Town Centre and the West side of Athlone.

Customers across Westmeath are being asked to conserve water as water supply is under pressure due to increase demand.

Irish Water has issued the following statement: “Irish Water is advising customers in County Westmeath following exceptionally high water demand and a number of large bursts on the network over recent weeks that water restrictions are required to allow the Annagh reservoir supplying customers in parts of Athlone Town, Annagh, Baylin, Mount Temple, Ories areas to continue to refill. The water level in the reservoir is again very low and will not be able to supply the water needs of the impacted areas without further restrictions tonight.”

Customers who see visible leaks or are aware of any leaks or bursts are asked to phone 1850 278 278.
