Water restrictions likely on westside of Athlone

West side of Athlone set for water restrictions

Irish Water is warning about possible disruption to water supplies across most of the urban westside of Athlone.

In a statement, Irish Water said it wished to advise customers that due to essential maintenance work that is being carried out at the Battery Heights reservoir in Athlone on Wednesday, May 23.

There may be a disruption to the water supply for customers in Connaught Street, Main Street, Grace Road, Castle Street, Deerpark, Parnell Square, Pearse Street, Old Galway Road, Baylough Roscommon Road and surrounding areas in Athlone.

The work is being carried out to replace an ageing valve at the Battery Heights reservoir to secure the water supply for customers.

 The work will take place from 6am to 10pm on Wednesday, May 23. The water supply will restore to customers as the network refills. It can take a number of hours for the water to restore to customers on higher ground or at the end of the network once the water supply is turned back on.  
A water supply will be maintained to the east side of Athlone Town Centre, Coosan, Ballykeeran, Glasson, Baylin, Mount Temple and Ories. 
Customers are being asked to conserve water while these essential works are taking place.
