A singing priest who is originally from Westmeath has made it through to the semi final stage of the 'Britain's Got Talent' show on ITV.

Fr Ray Kelly is a 64-year-old native of Tyrrellspass who is currently based in Oldcastle, County Meath.

He booked his place in the Britain's Got Talent semi finals when the four judges put him through on last Saturday's show.

The semi finals began last night (Monday) and continue this evening on ITV from 7.30pm.

The final will then take place this Sunday, June 3.

Earlier in the competition, Fr Kelly delivered a powerful rendition of REM's 'Everybody Hurts'. The performance was described by judge Simon Cowell as one of his "favourite ever auditions."
