Athlone writer Jean Farrell launching book this evening

Athlone woman and Westmeath Independent columnist Jean Farrell will launch a collection of her columns in book form this evening (Thursday, November 8).

The launch of the 'Jean's Journal' book is taking place in the Shamrock Lodge Hotel at 8pm, and all are welcome to attend.

Jean, a retired teacher, has been writing her witty and entertaining 'Jean's Journal' column in the Westmeath Independent for the last five years.

One of ten children, she writes about growing up in Athlone and her observations on life from the 1950s to the present day.

The new book contains 42 of her articles along with many interesting old photographs.

It's priced €12, and after tonight's launch it will be on sale from the Westmeath Independent office on Sean Costello Street, in Athlone Library, The Castle Gift Shop, and The Bastion Gallery.

If readers wish to have copies posted to them, in Ireland or abroad, they can contact Jean at: jeanfarrell@live.ie for details regarding cost, post and packaging.
