Indoor Moate and Dead Centre Brewing Christmas markets this Sunday

With less than three weeks to go until Christmas, people in Athlone and Moate will have an opportunity to get into the festive spirit at indoor markets taking place this Sunday (December 8).

The annual Moate Christmas Market usually takes place outdoors on Main Street, but with a yellow-level wind warning in place for Sunday, the event has been moved indoors this year.

The organisers, Moate Action Group, said the event would now take place at Moate Community Centre between 1pm and 6.30pm. All stalls, busking and festivities are to be relocated to the community centre.

Dead Centre Brewing at Custume Pier, Athlone, is also welcoming the Christmas period in style with its first annual Christmas Market on Sunday.

The craft brewery will be selling its own wares on the day with gift vouchers and hampers featuring Dead Centre glasses, t-shirts, tote bags and much more.

As well as that, Dead Centre will welcome 11 other local producers, artists, candle makers, bakers and suppliers who will offer everything from up-cycled Christmas decorations to handmade Christmas cards and everything in between.

The festive market will start at 12.30pm and run until 5pm, with dcKitchen serving up their already legendary Turkey, Ham and Stuffing Pizza with Cranberry Sauce on the side.

Dead Centre will also have a Hot Chocolate station serving Cadbury’s Hot Chocolates topped with fresh cream, marshmallows and cocoa powder.

Recently awarded the title of The Midlands Most Innovative Pub at the prestigious Irish Pub Awards, Dead Centre Brewing is a beautiful riverside eatery, bar and craft brewery spread over two floors that carries a huge array of beers as well as spirits, wine, tea, coffee, soft drinks and much more.
