Rising star Mick Flannery set for Passionfruit

As one of the most exciting new names in Irish music, rising star Mick Flannery will be hoping to win over local audiences when he performs in the Passionfruit Theatre on Thursday, January 13 next with support from Stewart Agnew.

Flannery is a 25-year-old stonemason who was brought up on a farm outside Blarney in Cork. His first real connection to music was watching an unplugged Nirvana covering Bowie"s "The Man Who Sold the World". After a stint in a music college in Cork, he travelled to the US where he 'wandered around for a time'. While there, he entered the US Songwriting Competition in Nashville, Tennessee and, to his surprise, won two top awards for his compositions.

The success of his debut album, "White Lies" has led Flannery to be touted as one of Irish music"s up-and-coming stars and has won the gifted performer exceptional reviews in the national media.

If asked, Mick adamantly refuses to talk about himself. The best you"ll get from him on any given day is, maybe, an admission that he"s a bit 'grumpy' and he enjoys a good game of poker!

So, if you"re determined to get up close and personal with Mick Flannery, you"re going to have to kick back and listen to his music because that"s where he actually talks about himself. Mick, of course, writes all of his songs playing both piano and guitar.

Tickets are priced at €20 and are available in the "Carry Out" Off-Licence, Baylough (beside The Grove). The evening"s music will begin at 8.30pm.
