Athlone groups gear up for live heats of All Ireland Talent show

The Golden Sisters

Two Athlone groups will perform on the live heats of the All-Ireland Talent Show over the next two weekends.

Re-Seisiun will line up on Sunday, January 3 next, representing the East, while The Golden Sisters will take on the mantle on the following live show on Sunday, January 10.

These rounds follow the opening live heat on New Year's Even when one act from each of the five regions fight it out for the public vote. The top act will go straight through to the semi-final while the second highest placed act will go through to the Wild Card Show.

Re-Seisiun will be up against Tom and Eoghan Costello (The West), Cathal Flaherty (The South), Karen Morrison (The North) and Romey Farrelly (Dublin).

The show will be broadcast on RTE One at 6.30pm with live results at 8.30pm.

Re-Seisiun comprises of Liam and Keith Flynn from Garnafailagh, Patrick and Stephen Heffernan from Castledaly and Conor Irwin from The Elms.

They were introduced through local music teacher James Donohoe, who is continuing to work with the lads towards the development of a unique and progressive style of music and song.

Meanwhile, the following Sunday, January 10, will see The Golden Sisters take to the stage in the third round of the Live Studio Heats on The All Ireland Talent Show.

This other competing acts are Tara Burke McDonnell - The West; Johnny Bongos - The South; Cloughaneely Band - The North and A Different Unique - Dublin

The wildcard show is pencilled in for Sunday, February 21 and the two semi-finals will take place over the following two weekends, with the final due for Sunday, March 14.
