ATHLONE Town will face an away trip to Bray Wanderers in the first round of the newly relaunched and repackaged Leinster Senior Cup, the oldest trophy under the FAI's auspices.

The Leinster Senior Cup was last played for ten years ago when Athlone actually lost the final to Leinster Senior League side Wayside Celtic.

The Town have won the competition on three occasions and the Leinster Senior Cup is the last trophy captured by Athlone when they beat St Francis in the 1992 final.

Athlone's other triumphs in the competition came in 1970 (beating Shelbourne 4-0 in the final) and 1988 (beating St Pat's 1-0 in the final). The Midlanders have also been runners-up five times.

The competition was first competed for in the 1892/93 season and Leinster Nomads were the inaugural winners of the cup, while Bohemians hold a record of having won the trophy six times in-a-row from 1894 to 1899.

Chairman of the LFA, John Coughlan, and League of Ireland director Fran Gavin conducted the draw for the relaunched competition at Abbotstown, and first round ties are scheduled to be played on or before the week ending February 28.

Meanwhile, Athlone Town has announced its Annual General Meeting for 2010 will take place on Monday, February 8, at 8pm in the Shamrock Lodge Hotel.
