The two clubs who have shared the last five Roscommon senior football titles - St Brigid's and Castlerea St Kevin's - have been drawn in the same group in this year's championship.

St Brigid's lifted the Fahey Cup for three years in a row from 2005 to 2007 - a period during which they also claimed their first Connacht title - while Castlerea secured the top prize in Roscommon club football in 2008 and retained the crown last year.

And to make matters even more interesting, St Brigid's and Castlerea are joined by Padraig Pearses, who were runners-up in both 2005 and 2008.

In the 2008 final, Castlerea needed a replay before seeing off the men from Woodmount, who are still searching for an elusive first senior county title.

In the Shannonside FM Roscommon SFC, there are four groups containing three teams. Two teams from each group will advance into the quarter-finals. This means that one of the aforementioned clubs will be out of contention before the quarter-finals.

Meanwhile, Clann na nGael have been drawn in Group C, alongside St Aidan's of Ballyforan and Kilmore. Clann, now under the management of Dessie Dolan Snr, are bidding for their first senior title since 1996 and will be fancied to advance from their group. Fellow South Roscommon outfit St Aidan's will be expected to join Clann in the quarter-finals. Like Pearses, the men from Ballyforan and Dysart are still seeking their first Roscommon senior title, while Kilmore last lifted the Fahey Cup in 1983.

In the Intermediate Football Championship, St Dominic's of Knockcroghery have been drawn in Group D, along with St Michael's and Shannon Gaels. St Brigid's, who won the Junior A Football Championship last year, are in Group C with Boyle and Eire "g.

In the Kepak Roscommon Senior Hurling Championship, St Dominic's are in Group A, while Padraig Pearses are in Group B.
