Pat Flanagan is readying his Westmeath troops for Sunday's NFL Division 2 final against Derry.

Tickets now on sale for Westmeath's league final against Derry

Tickets for the Allianz National Football League Division 2 final between Westmeath and Derry are on sale in Cusack Park, Mullingar over the next couple of days, Westmeath County Board has confirmed.

They will be available daily from 9am to 2pm and group passes are available to clubs and can be obtained directly from Croke Park by e-mailing tickets@gaa.ie

Orders must be placed by club secretaries and are limited to one application per club stating numbers required. Applications must be submitted by 2pm on Wednesday.

The game takes place on Sundat at Croke Park with a 2pm throw-in. The match will be followed by the Division 1 decider between Dublin and Tyrone (4pm).

Westmeath have a proud record in Division 2 finals having won on each occasion that they have participated, with victories in 2001 against Cork, 2003 against Limerick, and in 2008 against Dublin.

Over the years, Westmeath and Derry have crossed swords numerous times in the league with the most notable victory for Westmeath being the 1994 NFL quarter-final in Enniskillen, when Division 4 winners Westmeath beat the then All-Ireland champions in a memorable game.

On the flip side, the only championship encounter was in 2004 when Westmeath, who were buoyant after a first ever Leinster Championship win, bowed out in the All-Ireland quarter-final to Derry by 2-9 to 0-13 at headquarters.

Meanwhile, Westmeath minor hurlers open their account in this year’s Leinster Championship against Meath at 2pm in Trim on Saturday.

Westmeath, in recent years, have produced some good minor teams and were close to making it through to a Leinster final a couple of years ago when losing narrowly to Dublin. Last year, Westmeath lost narrowly to Laois and Carlow in somewhat disappointing fashion. Both counties have won All-Ireland Minor ‘B’ titles as recently as 2010 and 2011 respectively, so one would expect the standard to be similar.
